E-Mailing in her sleep!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

sleep-emailing1When I was young, on several confirmed occasions, I sleep walked.  I don’t believe I have ever sleep eMailed.  Much to my surprise, there is a recorded case where a woman sent out invitations to a party in her sleep.

Well, at least that was the excuse she gave her spouse.  Sure honey, I invited these people while I was sleeping (wink..wink..nudge..nudge).

Ok, my future as Jay Leno’s substitute is looking grim, but here is a link to the story of

Somnambulism in the Internet AgeSomnambulism is one of those BIG words doctors make up to help justify the expense of medical school.

While in the army, we joked about how great it would be to be able to sleep with our eyes open.  The drill Sgts use to scream at us that if they saw our eyes close we would get dropped for push ups.  One guy in our company did sleep with his eyes open.  We all thought he was just a fibber until one day we watched him NOT blink for several minutes and the droll dribble down his shirt.  Talk about FUNNY!

They are calling sleep eMailing “zzz-mailing”.  The article even points to the complex nature of logging into your eMail, typing in your password, composing a message, picking the recipient and hitting send.  However, I don’t remember when the last time I had to type in my password at home?  Usually I just open the eMail app and type away.

Never-the-less, if it is a REAL case, then we must look at our society where people have become so pluged in that we even eMail people in our sleep!  One thing’s for sure, this women did not suffer from witers block!

Do We Play Games?

gamer-copyright2As I dive deeper into WordPress I am finding there are plug-in games. One of my customers asked me to install a couple of games on his new WordPress site that we are scheduled to roll out on June 1.

Initially I was resistant to the idea, but after installing a few games to test out the idea, I find that it fits with-in the Personality Based Marketing approach that I am creating.

If 62% of of the time internet users browse the net as a source of entertainment, then it makes sense to offer entertaining activities in addition to great blog content.

I’m not sure what the long term out look is for a platform that requires video games to hold visitor’s attention, but we shall see!

In the mean time, please enjoy the new games that I am testing on this site.  If you get a chance, please drop me a comment with your views on the online game playing idea.  I visited dozens of blogs per week and I haven’t really run into many that had online video games…  So I am curious just how effective the medium will be?

Those of you who know me know that I love Nascar.  My favorite drivers are Dale Earnhart Jr and Tony Stewart.

Go Guys!

In a recent Dallas News article, the economic woes we all face is expected to hit Nascar hard.  High ticket prices, sponsor cut backs and jobless fans are all expected to take a big chunk of Nascars business.

This season begins my 30th year of following Nascar.  While some years have been from a far via news and internet, most years I catch at lease ten races on TV.  My favorite races are Daytona, Talladega and Bristol.
